I did not have the problem reported by Andrei Magureanu. This usually happens if you aren’t currently in range of your access point when you bring up the card, or if you’re trying to set up an ad-hoc network and another machine with the same ESSID isn’t around. Also works out of the box on Feisty with NetworkManager. Delete the older report to avoid confusion, generate a fresh one and post it back please. I’ve switched encryption off to check it’s nothing to do with that and rebooted dual boot into Windows on the same laptop to check it’s not hardware.

If you later get out of range of your access point or turn off all the other computers in an ad-hoc setup, you may see the same ESSID problem. Either I’ve had a complete moment of stupidity or there is something not quite intuitive about the Wireless network management. First, download and build ndiswrapper.
This will install the drivers for the card.

The card will be recognized by the lniux and all seems ok, but there is no chance to get an IP address via DHCP or any other network communication no matter with or without encryption.
